ALBUQUERQUE — Services are pending for Dorothy M. Baca, 71.
Baca died June 6, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born July 20, 1939, in Pagosa Springs, Colo.
Adolfo Barraza
GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Adolfo A. Barraza, 85, will be 10 a.m., June 9, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Rev. O’Keefe will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation was 2-3:30 p.m., June 8, at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary was recited 7 p.m., June 8, at Rollie Mortuary.
Barraza died June 5, 2011, in Gallup. He was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Mentmore.
Barraza was drafted out of 11th grade to serve in the Army during WWII. He was in the 2nd wave at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a bus boy at the El Rancho Hotel in his younger days. He was well known in the Gallup area as the “Partsman”. Barraza worked at WonStop and Napa for over 40 years. He was active in the DAV and VFW, Gallup Chapters. He was an avid bowler and won many trophies. Barraza loved to travel, tinker with cars and eat out. Junk food was his favorite. He loved to spend time with his family and go for rides with his “girls” who he spoiled rotten.
Survivors includes include his sons, Adolfo A. Barraza Jr., Vincent G. Barraza; daughter, Irene B. Sanchez; brother, John Barraza Sr.; sisters, Ann Caraway, Alice Harrison; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
Barraza was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle “Libby” P. Barraza; son, Johnny Barraza; parents, Alejo Barraza, Mariana R. Barraza; brothers, Manuel, Mike, Guadalupe; sisters, Mary Leyba, Julia Blackman, Lupe Jones.
Pallbearers will be John Barraza Sr., Deanna Barraza-Guillen, Melody Guillen-Lucero, Danielle Guillen-Saucedo, Michelle Guillen, Alyssa Guillen.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Saavedra
GRANTS — Funeral Mass for Mary J. Saavedra 80, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 11, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Rev. Edwin Byran will be the celebrant. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., Friday, June 10, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church
Saavedra died June 7, 2011, in Mesa. She was born Nov. 14, 1930, in McGaffey.
Saavedra was a volunteer for 25 years at St. Vincent DePaul in Grants, before she retired.
Survivors include her sisters, Prudence Saavedra of Milan, Inez Manning of Grants, Helen Montenegro of Sacramento, Calif., Nickie Salazar of Rio Rancho; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Saavedra was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Saavedra; daughter, Sophie Saavedra-Pace; parents, Inez Jaure, Ciporinitia Salazar; brothers, Pablo Jaure, Tony Jaure.
Pallbearers will be Brian Pace, William Gauna, Patrick Saavedra, Garret Pace, Meddie Valdez, Jerry Jaure.
